Rachael Uwada Clifford is a writer and a poet, presently at work on her first poetry collection and her first collection of short stories. She is also a PhD candidate in the Department of English and the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in the Humanities at Princeton University.

Her honors include first place in Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers and support from Hedgebrook, Bread Loaf, Cave Canem, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Elizabeth George Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, The Mastheads, Ox-Bow, the Palm Beach Poetry Festival, Kimbilio, the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, and the Maryland State Arts Council.

She attended Hampshire College and received her MFA from the Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University, where she also taught creative writing.

Her work appears in Glimmer Train, Best New Poets, and The Cincinnati Review.
